First, material is not furniture grade....not even clothing grade. I covered mine with LEAK PROOF mattress pad and large throw (for now). Second, sticks 3' into room,not 20some inches as implied...platform sticks out behind couch so you cannot put it against wall if you want to use as sofa. If I wasn't responsible for shipping to and from, it would have gone back - even before box was opened - because there was a hole in box showing what the material was.
