How do you keep it from sagging? There is a device called a spreader – what is it for?

I’ve installed clotheslines proffessionaly for 15 years, and one thing I can tell you , is that you never hook a clothesline to a tree. One thing is that a tree will sway in the wind and snap your line. All trees move with the wind., Another is A tree has sap that continually drips and runs onto the clothes. And lastly birds will be in those trees dumping on your clean sheets. Just a tip, to remember,,,
